A Daunting Task 2009/2010

Accepting the Chain of Office for a second time is not something I expected to happen but here I am about embark on another twelve months as Monaghan Rotary Club President.

I look forward to the many challenges ahead, starting with our Annual Golf Classic on the August Bank Holiday Monday and although we are going through very difficult times I am sure business people and golfers of Monaghan will know the importance of continuing our work for local charities and good causes.

The District Conference comes up in October ,we had a great time at last years conference and I look forward to Athlone. The Clubs work in Bulgaria has made us many friends and this year we will be honoured with a visit from the Embassador Emil Savov Yainazov.

The prospect of having a Rotary Garden which we can dedicate to the memory of the fine Rotarians who have been called to their heavenly reward is something we have hoped would happen for a number of years and we are working with the local Council to make this happen and also with the council and the Lions club to erect what would be amazing welcome to Monaghan signs at the entrances to the town.

I also hope that when President’s Night come around again in the Spring it will be as successful as John’s was this year. My President’s Night will be in aid of Cuan Mhuire, Ballybay There will be of course many more challenges for me including supporting our neighbouring clubs and of course our Twin Club of North Down..

Yours Sincerely,
Peter O’Reilly
Club President 2009/2010
