Bulgarian ambassador visits monaghan
His Excellency, Mr Emil Savov Yalnazov the Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to Ireland paid an official to Monaghan on Friday 4th September last and carried out a number of official functions to express the Gratitude of his people to the Club and the people of Monaghan. The Ambassador was accompanied by his wife and two Sons’.
List of Engagements were as follows; The Mayor of Monaghan Town Council Mr. Sean Conlon and its members formally welcomed the Ambassador and his family to the Council Chamber. Local Historian and member of Monaghan Historical Society Mr Theo Mc Mahon brought the family on a walking Tour of Monaghan Town. They were greeted at Monaghan County Museum by the Curator Mr Liam Bradley and brought on a tour of its exhibits and an insight to the History of Monaghan.
The Ambassador and his family then returnedto the Four Seasons Hotel and had lunch with members of Monaghan Rotary Club and were officially welcomed by the President Mr Peter O’ Reilly. After lunch they paid a visit to Monaghan Collegiate School where the Principal Mr Michael Hall introduced them to the students. Michael is also the Vice President of Monaghan Rotary Club.
The Family next visited the Roman Catholic Cathedral of St Macartan “Mother church of the Diocese of Clogher”. Here they were given a tour by Mr Brian Deery who recently published a book on the Cathedral.
Finally, Mr Gordon Fleming President of Monaghan Chamber of Commerce met the Ambassador along with Mr Peter Ronaghan “Chairman” in Flemings Department Store in the Town. This is a Super Value Store that recently won the Number 1 Store in all of Ireland.
